John Vernal Owens
(April 17, 1933 - October 2, 2012)
John Vernal Owens was born April 17 1933 at Buffalo, Missouri, the son of Clarence Leroy and Alice Enola (Davis) Owens. He departed this life on October 2, 2012 at his home at Fair Play, Missouri At the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 13 days. He was united in marriage with Barbara June Earls and this union was blessed with two children.
During the Korean War he served his country in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he was a metal worker in the automotive field.
John is survived by his wife, Barbara June; 1 daughter, Rebecca F. Kindred and 1 son, Martin Owens both of California; one granddaughter; Melanie Ambriz of Idaho, two great grandchildren: Glori Ambriz and Ephraim Ambriz; 2 brothers: Warren and Dennis – both of Buffalo; 3 sisters: Nancy Palmer of Odessa, MO, Sue Faulkner of Elkland, and Erlene Taber of Elkland; numerous nieces and nephews; and dozens of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Vernon and Wayne and two sisters: Bonnie Nixon and Berniece Perryman; and a niece, Jackie Routh.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 6, 2012 in the Montgomery-Viets Chapel with brother Curtis Owens officiating. Recorded Selections were played. Casketbearers were: Greg Faulkner, Jeff Owens, Tim Owens, David Palmer, Jimmy Perryman, Roger Perryman and Michael Owens Burial with Military Honors was in Macedonia Cemetery under direction of the Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday until service time.
